2010.06.25 - ES-SO solar shading community on Build-Up now also directly visible on our website
The EU Build-Up Portal , www.buildup.eu , is a new environment for building professionals, local authorities and building occupants willing to share their experience on how to cut energy consumption in buildings. The key aim of this European initiative is to reduce the energy consumption of buildings across Europe by transferring best practices to the market and fostering their uptake.
ES-SO joined the BUILD UP initiative as a Partner, following an invitation of the European Commission. As a BUILD UP Partner, ES-SO created the solar shading virtual community on the Build-Up portal where it shares its knowledge, guidelines, tools and best practices for energy-saving measures in buildings across Europe.
Build-Up enables now ES-SO to have direct access to its community via the ES-SO website. Take a look at /en/ES-SO-in-action/build-up-web-portal.html

Schermature solari e tende tecniche: Metodi e soluzioni di progetto, tipologie, risparmio energetico
This book presents a practical overview of the different types, the architectural solutions and the energy efficiency of solar shading in buildings.
The book presents more than 40 recent important architectural projects with focus on reaching a better thermal and visual comfort for the building occupant. A special chapter is dedicated to the technical aspects of the solar shading systems. In appendix an overview is given on the EN norms and regulations, on energy efficiency on buildings. Calculation softwares and practical examples as well are presented in the appendix.
Author is Sergio Fabio Brivio, graduated as Doctor in Architecture in Milano. He is responsible for the Italian sales unit of Hunter Douglas. Since 1991 he has been working in solar shading architecture and had from the beginning special interest in energy efficiency. He is author of the previous publication " Tende e Schermature Solari", 2004, edited by Assites, the Italian Solar Shading Association. Since 2005 he also launched "Solaria" , the Italian magazine for solar shading. Currently he is Vice- President and a working member of ES-SO.
