Concerted Action, towards harmonisation

The EPBD is a challenge to EU Member States as far as its practical implementation is concerned. One of the EU's main initiatives in promoting dialogue about a degree of voluntary harmonisation between Member States is called Concerted Action.

Concerted Action has four main objectives. The first is to discuss and prepare a structure for the energy certification of buildings in EU Member States. The second is to discuss and prepare common methods for the inspection of heating boilers and air conditioning equipment. The next is to discuss and prepare ways of putting proper schemes in place for the accreditation of energy audit and inspection experts. The final objective is to discuss criteria for implementing common methods for calculating a building's energy performance. As solar shading is an energy-saving technology which can contribute to energy savings in buildings, ES-SO recommends that its members and other interested parties become familiar with Concerted Action.
