Awnings

Awnings

A folding arm awning has a compact box fitted on the facade that holds a durable, weather-resistant fabric. Spring-loaded arms let the fabric extend smoothly and stay tight. Extending from the facade, the awning blocks direct sunlight while creating a shaded, comfortable space below. The fabric is set at a gentle angle so you can still enjoy the view outside.

General properties

Thermal comfort Overheating prevention

***

An awning is particularly effective in blocking the high-angle summer sunlight to reduce solar heat gain, helping maintain cooler indoor temperatures.

An awning also provides pleasant shade for sitting outside.

Thermal comfort Passive heating

Insulation

*****

Allows maximum solar gains when fully retracted.

Visual comfort

Daylight

*****

Awnings improve visual comfort and the view out by reducing glare and diffusing sunlight, providing soft natural light indoors.

Night cooling

Ventilation

Wind resistance

*

The side arms are sensitive to high wind levels and therefore the awning should be equipped with sensors to automatically retract.

Operability

*****

Awnings perform best when operated automatically, maximising energy savings and comfort.

Maintenance

***

Regular maintenance ensures the proper functionality and the life span of the product.

Automation and performance

Weather sensors adjust shading according to sunlight intensity, outdoor temperature and wind conditions.

Dynamic facades optimise both cooling in summer and passive heating in winter by managing solar gains automatically
